BATHAAN
About the Play
The play talks about Prem who came to the city a long ago with high hopes and a dream of life but he constantly shelters the self created image of his ancestry the way he abandoned it. Internally, he is unable to admit the fact that circumstances may have altered entirely and this shattering image of remembrance not only engraves him deep inside but also persists him to reconnect. Though, his city life never allows him opportunity, he repeatedly endeavors to get in touch with his natives. He continuously goes through the illusion that his maternal house would still be in the same condition. The play also talks about class struggle, caste- politics, the infliction of fanatic ideologies and caste based hierarchy.
